چکیده

IEEE 802.16 standard is created to compete with cable access networks. In the beginning end users are immobile and have a line of sight with base station, now it moved to mobile non line of sight (NLOS) with the new standard IEEE 802.16e and IEEE 802.16j. The new IEEE 802.16j standard which is an amendment to IEEE 802.16e is mobile multi hop relay (MMR) specification for wireless networks. This paper discusses relay modes, relay transmission schemes and relay pairing schemes of IEEE 802.16j. Relay technologies such as transparent relay modes, non transparent relay mode, relay pairing schemes such as centralized relay pairing schemes, distributed relay pairing scheme, characterises of relay based networks such as throughput enhancement, capacity increase, cost reduction , relay techniques such as time domain frequency domain relay techniques and relay placement are also discussed in this paper. The paper also discusses about integration of IEEE 802.16j with IEEE 802.11.

An Efficient and Secure Group Key Management for IEEE 802.16j Architecture

The Relay Task Group of IEEE 802.16 has developed IEEE 802.16j which supports mobile multi-hop relay (MMR). MMR utilizes relay stations (RS) to extend network capability. Since attacks are easy to mount in wireless interface between RSs and BS, security issues seem to be more important. This paper proposes a group key management scheme that agrees with the Security Zone Key (SZK) specified in I...

Improved spectral utilization in multi-hop relay networks using frequency reuse for 4G networks

This paper presents a method to improve the spectral utilization in Multi-hop Relay (MMR) networks. Co-channel interference is considered as a parameter to analyze the performance of MMR (IEEE 802.16j) based relay networks. Frequency reuse technique is a way to improve the spectral utilization. Since the same frequency band is used by Relay stations and Base Station, co-channel interference wit...

Adaptive Zone-Based Bandwidth Management in IEEE 802.16j Multi-Hop Relay Network Adaptive Zone-Based Bandwidth Management in IEEE 802.16j Multi- Hop Relay Network

By comparing with the characteristics of the traditional mobile Quality-of-Service mechanisms, the idea of zonebased bandwidth allocation for mobile users in the IEEE 802.16j multi-hop relay network (IEEE 802.16-MR) is proposed in the paper. The zone of a mobile user includes the current relay station and its neighboring relay stations within the zone size in hop count. Bandwidth allocation is ...
